Purpose
To remove participant barriers and strengthen the social fabric of our community through the sport of volleyball.
Mission
To create a safe, inclusive and positive volleyball environment so all participants can have fun, advance their skills, gain a deeper understanding of the sport and reach their full potential.
Values
Inclusive – the learning and playing environment will be inclusive as barrier free as possible.
Safety – practice, games and education can only commence when a safe environment is established and maintained.
Respect – all coaches, players and parents must be respectful to one another and endeavour to educate each other on respectful behaviour
Accountability – all coaches, players and parents will take responsibility for their actions and abide by rules, regulations and New West Volleyball Association’s code of conduct.
Education – by passing knowledge and teaching skills, we can improve the enjoyment of volleyball.
We are driven by values
Values are more than the sum of some random words on a website. For the New West Volleyball Association, our values are why we get out of bed in the morning. They are a way of life that bleeds into volleyball specifically, and sport in general. What we do needs to mean something beyond the time we spend with our students and players.

My love for volleyball started in high school where I was fortunate to experience playing on our school team. After many years of recreational play, I continued to enjoy the benefits of the sport and the many rewards it brings. Throughout my career in construction and business ownership, my enjoyment of volleyball never faded and I feel extremely lucky to experience the sport with my children and our community youth and transition from a bump passer to a knowledge passer.

Growing up as a multi-sport athlete, I know first-hand how transformative sports can be. Volleyball is my favourite, and I have spent countless hours as a player, teammate, parent, cheerleader, spectator, and coach. Volleyball helps build confidence, teamwork, friendships, and resilience in ways that carry far beyond the game. I’m very happy to support the next generation of athletes develop their skills, find their confidence, and fall in love with volleyball just like the rest of us!

Participation in sport has really been the foundation of everything built in my life. The first brick was a gift given to me in grade five when my coach and teacher put a basketball in my hand. Since that moment there has never been a time when I wasn’t playing, officiating, or coaching a sport. For me, volleyball is a very special sport to introduce to our youth. It is a sport that can follow them throughout their entire life. Whether indoors or outdoors, it is one of the most social sports you can play.
